About the Championship

The Virginia Taekwondo Association proudly presents the 2026 Virginia State Taekwondo Championship - hosted at Dominion High School in Sterling, VA on March 21, 2026. This prestigious event is sanctioned as a USAT 12.0 tournament and serves as an official qualifying event for the 2026 USAT National Championships in Charlotte, NC (July 1-5, 2026).

Athletes will compete in Sparring (Kyorugi), Forms (Poomsae), Breaking, and Demo Team divisions. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your skills, compete at your highest level, and earn valuable national ranking points.

💰 $10,000 Prize Pool! All prize winners will receive travel stipends to help cover expenses for competing at the 2026 USAT National Championships and be named to the 2026 Virginia State Taekwondo Team!

Competition Divisions

$10,000 Prize Pool

The Virginia Taekwondo Association is proud to announce a $10,000 prize pool for the 2026 USATKD Virginia State Championship! All prize winners will receive travel stipends to help cover expenses for competing at the 2026 U.S. National Championships in Charlotte, NC (July 1-5, 2026) and be named to the 2026 Virginia State Taekwondo Team!

Prize Breakdown:

  • Poomsae (Black Belt Only): $200 to 1st place Male/Female winners in Youth, Cadet, Junior, Senior, Age 31-50, Age 51+ divisions - Total: $2,400
  • Sparring Cadet (Black Belt Only): $200 to Male/Female winners in combined weight classes - Total: $2,000
  • Sparring Junior (Black Belt Only): $200 to Male/Female winners in combined weight classes - Total: $2,000
  • Demo Team: 1st Place $700, 2nd Place $300 - Total: $1,000
  • Club/Coach Recognition: For most athletes registered - 1st: $500, 2nd: $300, 3rd: $200 - Total: $1,000
  • Referee Prizes: TBA - Total: $1,600

Travel stipend prizes will be distributed upon receipt by VTA of athlete registration confirmation for 2026 Nationals. Prizes are non-transferrable.

Qualification Benefits

  • National Championship Qualification: Top 4 finishers automatically qualify for 2026 USAT National Championships (July 1-5, Charlotte, NC)
  • 12.0 Ranking Points: Earn maximum USATKD national ranking points
  • State Team Selection: Prize winners named to 2026 Virginia State Taekwondo Team
  • Travel Stipends: Prize winners receive travel support for National Championships

Entry Fees:

  • Registration Entry Fee: $110
  • Per Event Fee: $20
  • Coach Registration: $65

Competition Rules

This championship follows all USATKD Competition Rules and Procedures. All competitors must:

  • Hold current USATKD membership (valid through event date)
  • Compete in USATKD-approved uniform and protective gear
  • Present valid ID and proof of age at weigh-in/check-in
  • Complete all required SafeSport and background check requirements (coaches/officials)
⚠️ Important: DAEDO GEN3 electronic gear will be used for all Black Belt and Color Belt sparring. E-HOGU will be provided. Athletes must bring DAEDO GEN3 socks. Limited socks available for rental/purchase on-site.

Weigh-In Information

All sparring competitors MUST weigh-in the day before competition:
